multi-doc app arch question

  • Subject: multi-doc app arch question

I'm working on a multi-document application and I was wondering the best way to architect one part of it. The application is styled after Mail.app wherein the user sees a list of documents with a subset of its attributes displayed in a management window and the user can double-click on any of the docs in the list to see all of the information.

If I want to create a companion window where the user can manage all of the documents (ala Mail.app's viewer) and have that window display at launch-time, would it be best to put that window in the MainMenu.nib or create another nib file and load that after the app is done launching?

Are there any examples of this type of application where the source is available?

Thanks!
-Sandeep
