Hmm, no on needing a multi-CPU machine. I've seen both the crash
with -[NSUIHeartBeat _heartBeatThread:] and the console message
(not at the same time) on my single CPU machine.
I've only seen a backtrace with NSUIHeartBeat, though; I've never
seen one with NSViewHierarchyLock.
The implication of that being that it's a different bug, try to
isolate that one and file a new RadarWeb entry :)
Not necessarily a different problem (although it could of course be).
This is a race condition between threads, and as such it's much
easier to reproduce on multi-CPU machines. It might just be that I've
never been patient enough to wait it out on a single-CPU machine.
It has been reported on single-processor machines, but it's much more
rare. FWIW, I haven't seen Joar's test case crash on a single
processor machine yet.

Definitely rare, I've only seen these maybe 5 times total. I don't
believe I've had either pop up in the last year or so.
