Hey everyone,
I'm new on this list, but I had a quick question that I thought I
would pose, and this seemed like a good place to seek an answer.
We're in the planning stages of creating a new application. One of
the features of this application would be to "control" a Keynote
presentation over a network. We're thinking that, since the format of
a .key file is open, it would be fairly easy to build your own
"Keynote" application, but we're not 100% sure. We don't need to
build the presentations, but distribute built Keynote presentations to
multiple people at the same time, who can then follow along with the
presenter on their own screens. Video output of the presenter's
screen is not an option, as this needs to travel long distances over
small pipelines, along with a video or audio stream.
So, I guess my questions are:
1.) Is there a Keynote "API" or something where we can access it's
"Engine." If not, is it simply an extension of Quicktime? (i.e. can
you distribute the slides and use Quicktime transitions available on
the client machine to do the same thing as on the presenter machine?)
2.) If it's an extension of Quicktime, would a standard MovieView in
an application do the trick?
3.) Are there any gotchas we should be aware of in planning this?
I realize it's a vague explanation, but any knowledge or tips would be
great. If anyone knows of anybody doing the same thing as well, that
would be excellent too!
Many thanks!
