Binding NSTableView to an object's instance variables

I have a custom object with 28 instance variables, mostly NSStrings and NSNumbers. I would like to bind this object's instance variables to a NSTableColumn to be edited. I've tried using indexed accessors, but it just isn't working. I get "(" for each instance variable. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
