Sorry, I forgot to mention that NSTableView columns are bound to the Passages array controller. So I would like to edit on a doDoubleClick:

in an nswindow, I want the nstextview to be blank upon *creation* of an entry but I want it to bind to a tableview selection key path when I do an edit. Do I have to build two windows in IB? If I bind to Passages, controller key-> selection, model key path-> passages.body the insertion bar in the nstextview can't appear when creating a new passage (probably because there is no selection).

any design suggestions so that I can use just one window for both creation and editing?
