plain text and Spotlight

Hi All,

First time poster here.

I like the idea of Spotlight, but find it a little limiting in its default configuration. It seems to index the content of plain text (.txt) files, but not other plain text files (ie ones that don't have a .txt extension). Is there a way to coax Spotlight into seeing, for example, files with a .cgi extension as a plain text file so that its contents are indexed and included when searching?
This would be very, very helpful to me and I'm sure many others. I don't think this requires a new importer be written, as Spotlight already knows how to handle .txt files; it just needs to be "tricked" into seeing other file types as plain text, too.

Thanks in advance,

Jake
