Hi Lorenzo,

That's actually not a file but a directory, and it contains the Spotlight indexes.

You can back it up if you'd like, but it's not necessary. If it somehow gets deleted, Spotlight will automatically re-index everything anyway.

So it's entirely up to you.  Nothing major would happen if you lost it.
