Best way to upload a large file (FTP) ...

I'm writing an application that needs to upload large files through ftp. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way to implement this and while looking through the NSUrl documentation and - (BOOL)writeToURL:(NSURL *)aURL. I can't seem to find anything that explains how to not only upload a file but store pieces for pause/resume functionality. I'm not looking for a complete example, just a place to look for ideas, cause I'm out :).
