Sorry for the delay...
I'm not sure of the exact behavior in that respect... although
the application importer should be the one (and one of them will
actually work now with multiple importers installed, whereas before
it didn't)
Mostly I brought this up because it eliminates the issues with
drag and drop installs for applications. The importer is found when
the app is launched, and existing files are imported (or reimported)
