although I wasn't seeing copying problems, just weird redraw problems
caused by the float type running out of precision somewhere during

that it wasn't designed for what I was using it for.
Whether this is the same problem or not, I don't know, but it might
be worth adding something to the documentation mentioning that float
doesn't have infinite precision so very large or very small values
could cause rendering errors.
