Maybe use less battery-hogging things such as:
-turn off Airport
-turn down screen brightness
-set Processor Performance to reduced
I've found I can use two batteries to go through a whole day of note taking,
checking email and surfing. It's unlikely that it would last if I spent the
day compiling... It did take a bit of planning to make sure both batteries
got charged for the next day with just one Powerbook.
I don't think it's reasonable to have power strips everywhere because:
-it would take significant extra code/work to get the extra power to support
all these power strips [they can't assume that only PB's will be plugged
into them, as from what I've seen in the past, if you give developers an
inch, they will take a mile].
-safety hazard of having all these power strips, and then PB power cords all
over the place, running over/under/between metal chairs where there is a
reasonable chance of the codes getting pinched
