In an application folder there is a file called Icon?, The folder is now empty (void of any visible file), but when i cd into that directory in a terminal window that Icon? folder is there... I have tried opening the said file with Photoshop CS2, Fireworks MX, etc. How can I extract that stupid icon for use in my app???

The Icon/r file is a resource file; you'll need a resource editor (ResEdit, Resourcer, etc.) to open it up.
