OK, some hours later I found the reason buried in my "Active Executable" settings - there I set CFZombieLevel to 3, and apparently this stomps on an bug in sips (I already was kind of puzzled on the KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xfcfcfcfc for the child task in the "free running" stack trace).

OTOH I kind of assumed a different behavior when a child process crashes - well, nothing or an signal or notification for the parent process, just like it happens when it's not launched by Xcode.

The odd thing is I get the drop in the Xcode debugger for the same project only with my user login, but not with two other logins.

Regards,
	Tom_E
