NSDictionary can initialize with the contents of a binary plist, so
you could create and NSDictionary from ~/Library/Preferences/
com.apple.dock.plist
And add a new Dictionary with your applications information to the
persistant-apps array, then write the dictionary back to the file.
Open com.apple.dock.plist in Property List Editor for information
about how your application's dictionary should look

Is there still a way to programmatically add an application icon to
the Dock? If so, how would this be done?
