One idea that springs to mind is to use regular toolbar items for everything, and then make a large item in the middle (with a max width of infinity). Then you can have this item draw itself centered in the toolbar. It would be a flexible space that draws stuff.


You could make this nicer by making it a wrapper for a standard toolbar item, so you could make any item window-centered.
