You will not believe this. I fixed it! The problem was the NAME!!!!!!!!!!! I changed the name of the panel (the outlet name) and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason, "increaseBudget" was not a name I could use.

You mentioned that other panels open just fine ... it may be time to do a direct comparison between the working ones and the errant one. Are you sure everything's exactly the same in your header, implementation, and nib?

Are you by any chance trying to act on outlets from your controller's init method? Keep in mind that outlets are connected after init gets called. If this is the problem, try placing the code that does stuff with outlets to awakeFromNib instead of init.
