No, I don't have to bother with "in theory" arguments at all. There
is *practical proof* that whatever these issues may be, they do not
prevent practical refactoring tools from being created, see the
Refactoring Browser.
The simple fact (which you keep ignoring) is that refactoring tools
were invented in Smalltalk.
