I would have to respectfully disagree. Questioning proposed designs
are at the heart of a meaningful dialog on mailing lists. In most
cases the best initial reply to a question posted on a mailing list
is "what are you _really_ trying to do".
How about having a request to quit also implicitly cancel the ongoing
operation? You could listen to NSApplicationWillTerminateNotification
and cancel in response.
