That doesn't seem to be a runtime check; it only determines what the person who compiled the code was running, right?

Depends whether the OP wants the program to say "Intel" or "PowerPC" if his binary
is run under Rosetta. For most practical purposes, it seems more reasonable to get
"PowerPC" in that case... Regards,
