Hello,
My name is Deric Horn, and I¹m Apple¹s new Application Frameworks
Evangelist. I just wanted to say ³hi², and briefly introduce myself.
Some of you may already know me from developer workshops, DTS, WWDC, or
previous jobs at Apple. Before joining the evangelism team I worked as part
of a small team responsible for developing HFS+, was a member of the
original Carbon engineering team, and have been a Developer Technical
Support Engineer for the past 5 years. I¹ve enjoyed my time coding and
helping developers get past blocking issues, but I am also now looking
forward to helping you adopt our latest technologies, encourage best
development practices and strategies, as well as taking feedback to Apple's
engineering teams on how to make our frameworks the best they can be.
I hope to maintain a level of expertise in both Carbon and Cocoa and be
responsible for promoting Cocoa/Objective-C, managing the adoption of our
new technologies, helping developers transition to new Leopard capabilities,
and influencing, encouraging, helping, coercing, and leading our developers
to building the best collection of software ever!
Beyond that, if your company is new to Mac OS X and wants more information
on Cocoa or Carbon development, or have other comments or concerns about the
API, please send them my way.
You'll see more of me around in upcoming months, whether it be at WWDC,
developer workshops, or helping list-mom this list, and I look forward to
meeting many of you!
Regards,
Deric Horn
