Creating an NSTokenField with Images in the tokens

I' want to create a token field where the tokens consist of a single small image and no text, but should behave as 'regular' tokens. I only need to be able to select tokens and drag them, no editing will be required and the token field will only be populated programatically.

Can anyone suggest the basic recipe for this please?

I suspect it involves subclassing the NSTokenFieldCell, but I don't know where to start.
