Never-mind this whole thread. I discovered later that some schmuck had sneaked in and hit the F7 while I wasn't looking, which changed my Full Keyboard Access from "All controls" to "Text boxes and lists only".

So, contrary to previous complaints of myself and others, the keyboard loop works, at least in Tiger, even in a programmatically- created window, and no re-implementations are necessary.

P.S. I have a little light on my keyboard that tells me when Caps Lock is on. We need one that says "Full Keyboard Access is off/ crippled"!
