Hi,

Thanks for that, SFAuthorizationView is exactly what I needed. I have put in an SFAuthorizationView on my preferencepane, and have called setString to "system.privilege.admin".

I don't have a full grasp of the Authorization classes, but does anyone know an easy way to hookup my SFAuthorizationView so that it's authorized whenever the built-in prefPanes are? Is this something that will require me to create or edit some security policies? Is there an easy way to create an NSTask that has privileges that I have gained through my SFAuthorizationView?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

You may want to take a look at the SFAuthorizationView class referenced

I have a PreferencePane that changes some system settings that
requires admin privileges. Is there an easy way to get the standard
apple "Click the lock to prevent further changes" widget and its
functionality into your own PreferencePanes?

This page here: http://www.dssw.co.uk/powermanager/ shows a custom
PreferencePane with an Apple style "lock authentication widget" at
the bottom. Have they "rolled their own," or is there some Apple code
that they have leveraged?

Thanks,
Nick Forge
