Actually, you are able to use that. "Deprecated" does not mean "no longer
available". It means "not going to be fixed or maintained, might or might
not go away someday, should be avoided in new code". Apple has on occasion
deprecated calls before they could be 100% replaced in every case--those are
cases that call for feature requests. You could either use CMPathLocation or
stick with what you first tried--either way you should file a bug against
the sample code and a feature request against Colorsync for an API that
returns FSRefs. (Assuming you first ask on the Colorsync mailing list just
in case there's already one that we haven't noticed.)
