So, most likely a threading issue then. Have you reviewed the particulars about using Cocoa in a multi-threaded environment? The rule of thumb is that you shouldn't use anything from Cocoa (any API really) from a non-main thread unless you're absolutely sure that it's OK, and that you're taking the correct precautions.
