You might be interested in looking at Visor (http:// docs.blacktree.com/visor/visor). I don't know if you can get the source, but it looks like it uses SIMBL, so it's just some adapter code that actually overrides Terminal.app behavior.

If you could duplicate this, it probably wouldn't be very hard to make it do fullscreen also.

F-Script, which is open source, provides a Cocoa-based command line interface view which is very easy to reuse in other contexts.
