My Daemon will perform activity using Foundation Kit API. While it starts

If it only performs activity while a user is logged in, does it really need to run as root?

In general, it's better to require the least amount of privilege. It would be better if your daemon ran as a per-user agent; the configuration is almost the same, except that the plist goes into / Library/LaunchAgents.
