I can think of a couple of ways:
1) When your preference changes, post a notification.  The views
listen for that notificiation, and update themselves accordingly.
2) Assuming your preference is being stored in user defaults, bind
your views to the preference through an NSUserDefaultsController.  Use
a value transformer to transform the preference value into a string.
Don't forget to localize.
