It's possible to save arrays using NSUserDefaults--technique is in the archives, but it looked pretty daunting to me with a lot of chances for me to screw things up. I chose to use a very simple CoreData model for my array instead. It might be a bit of overkill, but CoreData saved me a bunch of time on a task I didn't really want to spend time on. My datastore for this part of the preferences lives in Library/ApplicationSupport/<appname>.

I still use NSUserDefaults for the simple stuff.
