This is really silly, but how can I get a reference to the clicked- in view???

I don't have direct access to the event, but I can get it through NSApp. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any method to just get a reference to the clicked view. This seems very strange to me, so I really hope I'm missing something very simple.
