I don't know of a way to do that. The "Dashboard" app isn't really the dashboard itself, just a tiny stub that tells the real dashboard to start. Same for the "Spotlight" and "Time Machine" apps.


Your trick with the minimized window is interesting, but I don't think there's a way to prevent a window from being maximized. On the other hand, it's kind of cool to have a little window-based widget that can be collapsed into the dock when you don't need it.
