The 'New' item in the File menu is not enabled

Hi,

As a newbie to Cocoa, I'm working through the Hillegass book, and specifically the RaiseMan app. I've just implemented the code to save and load doculents, but for some reason, I'm not able to create a new document, or open an existing document (these options are disbaled in the File menu). I am however able to save a document (which is created automatically on opening the app), and I can open saved documents by double clicking on them in the Finder. Does anyone have any ideas?

Alli
