btw.: I'd like to propose that there should be a way to switch a
context to read-only. I'd file a radar if you want me to.

File early, file often. Even if you already know another developer has, even if you came up with a work around. If a problem is annoying you, it's very helpful for us to keep statistics about how many developers care enough to send the very best ... feedback.
