Here are my responses to your responses to my responses :):
[1] INSTALLING THE PLUGIN
[Jon C. Munson II] Thank you for all this information. I'll chew on it for
a bit since there is quite a lot said herein.
[2] THE PLUGIN AND FRAMEWORK IDENTIFIERS
[Jon C. Munson II] I did change my plugin identifier to include the word
"Plugin" and now IB correctly reports the .framework as required. Thanks
for that!
[3] THE DEFAULT IMAGE
[Jon C. Munson II] After renaming my plugin bundle identifier, the blue cube
still displayed (I commented out the ibDefaultImage call to test).
Re-enabling the -ibDefaultImage call displays the "icon" appropriately.
Hope that clears some stuff up.

thread will provide something useful for those who are starting to work with
plugins and need a bit more than the dox currently provide.
