AppleScript crashing and garbage collection

Some time ago we learnt that compiling AppleScript in a GC app is unpredictable:

Yes. But we intend to fix it in a software update. (And I can't say
anything more specific than that. A fix isn't a fix until it's shipped.)

This still seems to be an issue on 10.5.7. Does anyone know if SL has the fix in place?
