It can read traditional .ICO files.  Our product makes use of that and supports Tiger.  Vista-style .ICOs with embedded PNGs for larger sizes are not supported.  I think in Snow Leopard, the ImageIO framework still doesn't handle the PNG entries but provides access to the other images, but I'm not certain of that.
