The actual minimum number of buttons that cause it to fail is unknown (to me); what I posted was chosen because it was a quick way to demonstrate all three 'surprises'.  Considering that it breaks in *different* ways depending on screen location, testing someone else's code for where the boundaries are isn't an appealing exercise.  By its nature, the UIActionSheet will scroll its contents -- which implies an expectation of more contained items than are visible on the screen -- so consistency would be nice.  If there are specific limits, documentation of those would also be good.
