Probably, or at least it should be possible to fake it acceptably. The toolbar is a sibling of the window's contentView. You should probably put any views of your own devising in the contentView however, rather than trying to mess about with the toolbar's view, which is really off-limits. Since brushed metal is no longer used but instead a flat grey is, getting a seamless match at the join shouldn't be a problem.
