Working with external drives with Cocoa.

Is there is a way to work with external drives inside cocoa as you might at the command line with diskutil.

Trying to avoid using NSTask (mostly because I want to learn if there is another way to do this), but I need to be able to get information about a drive's size, partition map, and fileystem and then modify the device if needed, re-mapping, erasing, renaming the volumes, etc.

I've looked at NSWorkspace and some of that info is there but nowhere near what I need.

Thanks.
