Interesting observation.
For something that doesn't exist it is a widely used term in the
printing industry.
I was first introduced to it long before personal computers or ICC
profiles existed. In 1979 as Dupont started introducing us to dot gain
as the most important variable to control with their System Bruener.
Even today it's a term we use to buy inks and proofing colorants.
The most notable characteristic is the color of the magenta.
The "bluer" or "colder" magenta is what seems to define it.
We use Eurostandard colors on our Kodak Approval. Kodak recognizes the
term as a different product and makes it available.
