I'll stick my little rant about Heidelberg sales folks shouting "it

It doesn't, but the fact that it stops there and allows us to fool
around is cool.
If a tool were to be judged by those who sell it rather than by those
who make it, then I suppose we would have little left to work with
beyond SimpleText -:).
Linocolor 6 is totally dependent on ICC profiles, nothing up the
sleave, nothing behind the back. LC 5.1 still had a default internal
CMYK to RGB conversion, but install 6.0.X on pre-ColorSync 3.0
systems, remove all data space CMYK prtr profiles from the ColorSync
folder, open an Lab finescan, switch to CMYK simulation and the
window turns gray because there is no simulation CMYK space in the
ColorSync Profiles folder.
(You can't do this with CS3 which autoinstalls Generic CMYK Profile
whenever you move it away from the top level of the CSP folder...Come
to think of it I've posted this before.)
Also the contrast range in the soft proof and the proof print are the
same as in the printed page because black point compensation is not
applied. This means that you aren't disappointed in the facts when
you compare the proof print and the printed page.
The downside with Linocolor 6 is the LCh editing tools which don't
come anywhere near the power and ease of use of LCh editing available
with Newcolor 7.
What I should like to see is the software which for a good many of us
is where it all started reinvent itself in a return to the Mac. I
have wanted to see this since DRUPA 2000, hence the posts at that
time and since.
