The one advantage of the slower more expensive 2000p over the 1280/1290 is
the encapsualted pigment inks... however those inks are the printers weakness
as well. It a shame to pay for the 2000p, and then make slow prints with
other inks.
Just wondering is it possible

use Hexachrome ink set on such a printer or similiar (with profiling)?
This requires a six channel PostScript RIP, special six color profiling
software, and a fair amount of experience... its not impossible, but when you
look at the costs involved I doubt you will persue it. Besides, this is a six
color printer; to add Orange and Green, you lose light Cyan and light
Magenta, adding a slight improvement to color gamut in a few areas, and
decreasing image quality instead, since the light inks reduce graininess of
the image.

there similiar types of desktoip printers out there with such a capability?
There are CMYKOG printers available, but generally this is to augment the
duller colors of pigment or solvent inks, or in the case of the 8 color
Roland is added in addition to the light inks. The chief advantge to the
CMYKOG is not for image printing, but for hitting more Pantone spot colors.

And are there any ink suppliers that produce ahexachrome set?
Yes, but while I have tested a couple unreleased CMYKOG sets, there are not
standard cartridges or mixes for the Epson desktop printers, since without a
RIP and special profiles they would not be usable.
By the way the term Hexachrome is registered by Pantone, so is not a generic
six color description.
