Ink limiting for hue shift?
Ink limiting for hue shift?

I understand the necessity to limit inks for either bleed or because
there may be no more useful density gain on a given media. I also
understand a profiling app may have an easier time with very well
behaved colors, but I'm questioning the need I've seen expressed for
ink/media hue shift.
It seems to me that given two situations, identical other than one
limited for hue shift, profile conversion with colors within the well
behaved gamut of the more limited situation will be identical with both,
and the only difference will be that there will be some deep but not
well behaved colors that the limited one will not be able to reach.
Also, will not a good profile be able to deal with hue shift problems in
these difficult colors anyway, even it not ideally? I can see how there
could be banding or other difficulties in those colors and their blends,
but will not the entire rest of the gamut behave the same with both?
What little testing I've done shows that there is generally much more
usable individual ink density range beyond the hooking point, why not
use it?
Thanks, looking to understand this.
Tyler
