I have been measuring ColorCheckers charts for a while to get real instead
of generic measurement supplied from the manufacturer. Rules out the
reference file from being wrong. I have two measurement files, one non-UV,
and one with a polarizing filter. The polarizing filter measurement file is
used for customer who polarize their lights.
If you are really a true color geek you measure the light source as well and
factor that into the profiling building process.
In reference to the original post, the ColorChecker includes a pamphlet that
lists RGB numbers for a (possibly) sRGB color space. A camera manufacturer I
worked with on project for calibrating their sensors to a sRGB color space
found their ColorChecker (when measured) had distinctly different sRGB
numbers than the pamphlet. Surprise, surprise. :)
Short answer, measure the dang chart!
