I have had the opportunity to test your fix and it works very well, at least
according to my limited testing. Kudos for your efforts: your solution is
elegant and very easy to implement.
Still, I wish I could find a way to fix those screwy errors (fortunately
small and limited) that ColorLab generates in the L* channel.
