Aj,
As another (longtime) lurker on this list I welcome your input and
the replies it has solicited.
During this recent series of "debates" there has been some helpful
instruction, very interesting insights and the occasional passion.
Strong (and hopefully) informed opinions are great as long as they
are not delivered with malice - or sarcasm.
As a lurker I enjoy the periodic clashing of these opinions - who
would have thought that such passion would exist in the seemingly
technical world of the colorsync users group! Like others I would
probably like it kept less personal.
Aj, if you haven't tried Lightroom give it a go as I think that it's
workflow and DAM features will suit your business. I have bought and
tried Aperture, C1Pro+IView, and Lightroom since I began shooting RAW
and found LR to best suit my computers (Mac) and a workflow that
grew from many years of shooting and scanning trannies. You should
also buy one or several of the real world books (or similiar).
I hope I am allowed one further general observation regarding certain
subjects being OT and better discussed on other lists. I use a
computer to process my files because that's how photography is done
these days. The computer and software need to be colour managed if I
am to get the results I once got with chemicals. Because of this the
colorsync users group has become a vital part of my knowledge base.
Personally, I believe that because colour management is so important
and so tied to the computer and software of choice there can't help
but be regular (and essential) divergences OT.
Quite often the expert discussions that take place here are beyond my
understanding and needs but they are almost always interesting to
read. I dips me lid to all of those "usual suspects" providing
knowledge and insights for those appreciative lurkers like me. Thanks.
Paul
