To all of you Epson printing gurus,
We are having a strange problem printing to one of our printers.
First the
equipment involved:
Mac OS X 10.4.8
Epson 4800
Xerox Phaser 7750
Problem:
1. Print to the 4800 from Photoshop using a custom profile.
2. Print to the 7750 from Photoshop using a custom profile.
3. Print to the 4800 from Photoshop using all of the same settings
as (1).
4. Immediately print again to the 4800 from Photoshop using all of
the same
settings as (1).
The color print from (3) is noticeably different from (1) even
though all of
the same settings were used. However, the print from (4) matches (1)
exactly. The problem seems to show up when switching from printing
to the
7750 and then printing to the 4800. It's as if a setting somewhere
is not
being reset properly, but I can't seem to track it down. Printing
one more
time to the 4800 always fixes the problem. (It's a waste of time,
paper, and
ink though.)
This is repeatable every time from two of our computers, but does not
manifest at all from at least two others (using the same printers,
etc.).
Has anyone encountered this behavior before? Any suggestions on
solving it?
PowerPC or Intel Macs?
What effect (if any) does deleting the current 4800's Printer Queue
(then creating a fresh one) in Printer Set-up have?
When I have grief with Epson drivers this is typically the first
thing I attempt.
Next would be a complete reinstall of relevant (latest version) driver
(s).
As it's not consistent from Mac to Mac I'd lean towards some kind of
spooler anomaly.
