I have made hundreds of profiles with the "Emulate Adobe InDesign 2.0 CMS Off" setting in Color Settings. It works and I am not guessing.

It's "Composite Leave Unchanged", whether the content is RGB, CMYK or even Grayscale. I'm pretty sure it works for any of those color modes.
