For instance, the built-in color conversion tool doesn't have a
rendering intent selection option

Because the RI is coming from the profile's default RI. Weird but that's the
way it is.

I don't think this is accurate, Roger. I believe the Color Convert tool uses Relative Colorimetric all the time.
