Hi David,
No, I did not point the spectro at the sun although, at one point, out of
suspicion, I did. The recommended procedure is to measure the illumination
'indirectly' by aiming it at some surface of know spectral reflectance.
Well, this idea that the amount of UV changes thoughout the season is
something new to me and worth investigating, as you noted, with NASA or
other public sources of sun's irradiance data on the internet.
